Got another update for some of you Cockatoo lovers out there. We’ve now added a Moluccan Cockatoo Section and a Salmon Crested cockatoo Section to our website. I think it’s really important for us here at Birdtricks.com to continue to post new content on specific species of parrots to keep you as aware of each species as possible.

Because when I was about 10 years old, my parents purchased a Moluccan Cockatoo that we did NOT raise right at all… so I really wish there would have been a site that I could have visited that would have warned my parents about what it really takes to raise a cockatoo the right way. Hopefully in time, we can be that resource for you Cockatoo lovers out there.

That’s it for today!

Bird Traveling Tip

Wow… two posts in one day :-) I don’t normally do this, but I just had something happen to me and my Cockatiel that I thought I’d share with you. My brother and i are going to be shooting a new video (stay tuned) and my Cockatiel Magoo, is going to be in the footage.

I’m flying down on Monday to Florida, where my brother and I will be filming this video. And I didn’t realize I needed to have some special paper work when traveling with my bird. So I wanted to let you guys know that if you are planning on doing any flying with your bird anytime soon, make sure you check the pet travel guidelines of the airline you’re flying with… as Alaska, who I’m flying on needed a Health Certificate from my veterinarian.

I got a little nervous when I learned this, since I never fly with my birds, and was lucky that my Vet. could fit me in last minute. So anyways, I thought I’d just give you this reminder so you don’t get stuck with out the necessary papers to take your bird traveling with you on your next trip.

Umbrella Cockatoo Update

Umbrella Cockatoos are one of the most popular pet birds in the world today. They are all born as super loving, affectionate creatures. But they don’t stay that way for long. Many unsuspecting pet owners purchase an Umbrella Cockatoo without doing enough research into the diet, training, and behavior needs that are required to keep this species of cockatoo from turning into a nightmare.

So I wanted to let you all know that this month we’ve dedicated a section of our website to Umbrella Cockatoos, to help people learn more about them, and the type of expectations they should have when raising, or thinking about raising one of these beautiful birds.

So if Umbrella Cockatoos are what interests you, check out the new section on our website about Umbrella Cockatoos.
