I didn't use mine for 2 years until one day while politely trimming my Cockatoo's wing, I hit a blood feather. Ooops my bad and I'm glad she is forgiving of me. Especially the toweling part. But the materials inside helped me to remove the bad feather and stop the blood. Wish they had a material for owners guilt though. Having an emergency kit is also a must. I'm not a huge fan of sand paper on the perches because it is an unnatural surface for birds and it irritates some of my birds' feet, but it does keep the nails down. Same premise as the filing.
