Backstage Bird Cages

We knew we’d need backstage cages, and our travel cages just weren’t going to cut it as they’re more like crates and the birds’ tails can easily get broken in them if they’re in there for longer periods of time. Even though we only have the birds in for the show times, each show runs 2 hours long and that’s a while to be in a crate for a bird with a long tail like our macaws have.
Luckily, Rick who is in charge of all the shop related things, gave us one of these boxes that are used for all sorts of stuff. He said, “Here you go, it’s yours, do what you want with it.” we thought it would be PERFECT for our macaws to be in backstage because it was tall enough their tails wouldn’t get ruined. We thought immediately for our two Camelot Macaws Comet and Tusa who were the first to be put into the show.

Now, it’s not done yet… but those of you who know me, know I want to show things right away! So here it is! We immediately put two perches we had in there, and converted it to a cage for them. We stuck a light on the side because backstage can get pretty dark and we didn’t want the macaws falling asleep before they were about to go on stage.
We’re still in the process of adding ways to hang toys so that they can entertain themselves backstage, too. We’ll also be adding a perch that goes the length of the cage… once we find one!
