Bamboo Perches in Florida…

Well, it took a few months but I found my natural bamboo perches dead today (so to speak) never to be used again…
Since it rains SO much here in Florida, and I put all these bamboo perches outside in the avairies, the sandy stone on them that was supposed to help with their nails was rubbing off much quicker than they would have if they’d been in an indoor cage instead. So once the bamboo perches were stripped of their nail trimming ability, I still left them in for the birds to chew on and use.
The problem? The rain doesn’t let up here! So as it rained more and more, the bamboo became weaker and weaker…

And eventually they just broke right off and fell to the ground, rendered useless. The birds didn’t even go down there to tear them up some more. They were not touched once fallen.
However, I have to admit they lasted a pretty long time! The only perches that can last longer are cement ones or wood ones that are built strong (and actually come with the aviaries in the first place).
But these perches were good while they lasted!
