Lovebird Information Update
March 17th, 2008Chet
I’ve finally gotten around to adding a new content section to our website on Lovebirds. These little guys pack a lot of punch and I’m excited to announce that we’ll be releasing and update the new Lovebird Section of our website over the next several weeks. If you’re a Lovebird owner, or thinking about becoming one, you might want to swing by and check it out.

Very happy to know we are going to have a Lovebird Section in the future.
I own 3 lovebirds…Olivia, Kiki and Nicolas…..they are fun and a great
companion……..
My best wishes………
Fantastic! I can’t wait for the Lovebird section. Yes, lovebirds are such great fun. Small but with very big personality! And very bossy. Most of the time I forgot how small they are
Jedi and Obi-Wan will be happy to hear that Lovebirds will have their own page.
Thank you heaps for the great work Chet.
Cheers from Australia
I am happy to hear about the lovebird section as well. I am a first time bird owner and until I saw Freddie was more than a little frightened of birds. But it was love at first sight. I was handling Freddie in the petstore and was quite taken with the little darling. I made my husband go back to the store with me and I was relieved to see him still there. I got him at 12 weeks old. He is a beautiful yellow lovebird. He is now 9 months old and has a small patch of reddish orange on the top of his head. He has such a wonderful personallity (sorry about spelling). He is just so full of energy and is always happy to see you. I got him a two story cage so that he would have plenty of room to play and roam. I have bought chets training tips and tricks but have not yet started the training diet as I am not sure how old Freddie should be before I start the new diet. I have him on Harrisons High Potiency fine pellets and seed. I mix the two into a 4 to 1 mix 4 parts pellets to 1 part seed. I give the occasional millit spray, and try to give him veggies now and again. When giving veggies I have to remove the pellet as he ignores the veggies otherwise. His favorite veggie seems to be cauliflower and he likes sweet potatoes, doesnt care much for broccolie. Any suggestions on when to start the training diet? I don’t want to start too young. Freddie loves to step up but our greatest opportunity is getting him to stop jumping onto my head. I realize he is trying to be dominate, and each time he gets onto my head I bring him down and stearnly say no, but like most teenagers, continues to do as he pleases. any suggestions on how to redirect his interest would be helpfull.
I’m very happy to read you’ll add a new section for my babies.
I recently adopted 3 Lovebirds (Bungie, Chi-chi and Touti) and there are a lot of things I’d like to learn about them. Especially about behaviour issues, taming, biting…
Thanks again and keep me posted!

I’m so delighted that you are putting up a lovebird website for us lovebird owners! We are also having biting issues, and peaches doesn’t want to take frequent showers (by the sink either) Thank you Chet!
lovebirds are such nice parrots i have 2 babies about 7 weeks old their names are peach and sparky, they are both peachfaced lovebirds
I also have two lovebirds, my male is Comet and he is 15 yrs old and my female is Aster and she is about 8. Aster has alot of issues and I really want tow work with her to make her more pleasant. I would highly advise anyone wishing to have children, should have a bird first, they are like having a couple of two year olds!!!, but fun! Comet is a peachface and Aster is what hey call a Blue.
I’m getting two love birds soon i will name them feathers and lola and i want to breed them i think bird tricks should make videos of love birds!!!
I’m doing this first step with two love birds in the same cage. One is doing so so, but the other is still scared and seems stressed. What should I do? Should I keep them in the same cage together? They have benn together since they ‘ve been born (2 years ago) and now they have justo moved into my house, they are my new birds and i don’t want to make them sad because the other is missing. Please help!
