One Way to Spend More Time With Your Parrot

People tell me ALL the time how they don’t spend enough time with their birds and wish they had more time in their day… the excuses go on and on, and we all have them.

When you know your bird needs more quality time from you, you have to make the effort to meet those needs. One of the ways of doing this is looking at what you do from day to day, or what specifically you need to do THAT day.

Take day to day things like… reading the paper, watching the news, eating breakfast, having coffee in a nice cozy chair while waking up, getting dressed, showering… throwing away and/or sorting through your mail, maybe?

I usually am the one that sorts through our mail, and we get A LOT of junk mail!

So I take it as a time to spend with my bird. She gets to tear up what she thinks is “stealing” my attention away from her as I pretend to be interested, while really, the important stuff goes to the side and she never notices because there’s so much other stuff to shred.

Sorting mail is something my bird now LOVES and so I take very opportunity to include her in on it. And if you don’t have as much time to waste (the original video was 8 minutes with Bondi!) then simply sort and toss them on the floor for your bird to play in. Watch out for nesting behavior in the Spring though. Thank goodness it’s getting into October ;)

LOL!! Ha Ha.

My cockatiel likes to come with me while sweeping or mopping. One day he repeated “What are you doing? What are you doing?” and I said “Sigh, Ugh I’m CLEANING!”
He said “HaHaHaHaHa” and I said “You little poop. Of course you think that’s funny.”
