Hi Chris,
I recently read a report that PETA euthanizes 96% of their "rescues" without trying to rehab or rehome them. I get particularly infuriated to hear that THEY incite the fear or anger in they animals that they claim to be abused, and start snapping pictures. They do this in the circus environment frequently I am told.
Dave and Jamie use every opportunity to educate people and let them know that parrots are not for everyone.

Patty,
Good story. I especially like when you talk about PETA in a negative light. I never cared for animals, other than dogs, until I returned home from a tour in the Middle East to discover my wife had bought a Red Sided Eclectus while I was deployed. Well it took all of 8 seconds for that little guy to steal my heart, & 2 parrots later we have a small flock at the house. One of which is Sophie, our Timor Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. You struck a chord with me talking aboout the endangered parrots. Lesser Sulphur Cresteds are now critically endangered in the wild & without owners like me that love our animals and treat them better than most people treat their kids these animals may soon be extinct. PETA once had a true vision, now like all organization after time have become militant & exploitative, that follow a "by any means neccesary" approach to meeting their twisted agenda. While I do not agree with the way animals are treated in the circus, I do agree with Dave and Jamie joining Ringling Bros because of their love of pet birds. The only downside I can see is a legion of people wanting birds after seeing their show & think they should preach the importance of research before becoming pet bird owners and really knowing what they are getting into. This way we do not see anymore mistreated or abandoned birds needing shelters and rescues.
