“If you have most of the buttons on your shirt, your parrots need to get out more.”
I have a Green Cheeked Conure that says very softly just a couple of audible words (her name “Cupie” and “pretty bird”). I wonder if Green Cheek Conures can excel in talking? Sometimes she seems to be rambling on but I have no idea what she’s saying to me. She has a few other adorable characteristics such as being very cuddley and her most fun thing is she laughs quite audibly at a funny moment.
My Green Cheek Conure laughs out loud at funny moments. She laughed while on my shoulder watching your video. Talking however is not her strong point. When she speaks it’s very quiet and is difficult to tell what she is saying. Are Green Cheeks known much for talking?
Yes my bird sparky is pretty smart too.
Brittains best talking parrot as seen on brittish tv ch4 exclusive rude tube and featured in the nationals so if i can do it any one can.
Several years ago, I lost my beautiful Green Naped
Rainbow Lorikeet which I found some 20+ years
ago, and no person answered my newspaper ads.
I also went from house to house trying to find the
owner; however, that never happened thank
goodness. Losing Jammy, rest his soul, and Joey,
rest her soul, was very traumatic for me.
Soon thereafter, I purchased a beautiful White-
Bellied Caique to bring the whistling back into the
house. Peaches did just that, and it was wonderful to hear again. I DID NOT purchase her
to take Jammy’s place; nothing could do that.
She did, however, bring much joy and laughter
into the house.
Peaches has never, ever bitten either my husband
or myself; however, when I handed her to a person
visiting, she immediately grabbed onto his ear
and continued to bite him. I could not believe
her behavior; she never showed this side of her
before.
Is there a way that we could teach Peaches that
other people who visit are kind, and they deserve
the same treatment that we receive from her?
I would be grateful for any information which
you could give to me.
I have a coralla, Monty and he does some pretty smart things as well. Rolling off the lounge is a thing that he has gotten used to doing. He also can poo on demand and he has a Teddy that he talks to and plays with. The other night he was sleep talking and laughing. It was so funny to listen to.
Cute film clip. But please, Chet, don’t get started on making us download MORE video playing programs just to see clips. I have 3 on my computer already, and I’m getting computered out trying to keep them all straight. I still would like to see a parrot lift his leg on a fire hydrant (I can picture it in my mind), but I spent 15 minutes trying to get that darn “DIGG” program to work . I finally just bailed out of the site in frustration. I got your basic program, and my little Sun Conure Punkie just returned from over a year and a half of being boarded while I was in and out of hospitals and surgical suites. And she remembered me. Came right out of the carrier, up my arm, and gave me many kisses on my ears. I was so happy I cried. She is settling in, and she is presently learning to nod her head “yes,” with the help of dried papaya (She will KILL for dried papaya). Only problem so far is she hates me to talk on the phone, and she screams. We are working on it. She was potty trained, but lost it locked in a cage for most of that time. She’s picking it up again already.
I bought Ruby-Friday in November 2007. So I have had her for 9 months. She had been hand reared and was exceptionally tame.
She talks non-stop. Wakes up in the morning and shouts, “Want to come, Mommee”, then when carried through in the cage she walks up and down her perch saying, “Do Quickly, Quickly” (because before she does this first toilet of the day - she knows she will stay in the cage!. After she does Quickly Quicly the door is opened and she tells me, “Want to go to the Kitchen, want to schwimmmm” She knows the “bedroom” “bathroom” “sitting room” and says all these in the right context. Her favourite words are SPECIAL AND DAHRLING and constantly says, “Hello, Darling, hello my special”
In the mornings she climbs into bed after her quickly quickly and snuggles up to my bent knees. She talks a while and then all of a sudden in a very loud voice she says, “UH UH DON’T BITE MOMMEEEE - You’ll go back to your cage” and with that I cringe, as I know without a doubt that a sharp nip will be coming!!!! My reaction is always, NO, DONT BITE MOMMY OR YOULL GO BACK TO YOUR CAGE!!. She is absolutely hilarious.
She is able to select the green toy out of a handful of other colors and will only do this (but gets it right 100% of the time) when I show her a sunflower seed before asking her to perform it. Without the seed - NO TRICK.
In the morning when it is still dark and I go to gym and she performs to get out of her cage. I tell her to sleep longer and that I will be back soon. She then answers, “SEE YOU LATER”
I have never seen a bird with such charactor. I love her to bits and thank God each day for bringing us together.
Birds are so neat.
had a hand raised Rosa-bourke. Timid little things, but this one just loved sitting between my feet and nibbling on toes. Funniest little thing. Died of kidney disease at 6 months, rest his little birdie soul. Will never forget moments like those. Gotta love all the creaturs on earth.
Ha!! Ha!! Ha!!
Birds are so neat.
I had a hand raised Rosa-Bourke parakeet, Pepsi. Timid things. But this one felt safe with me and liked to sit between my feet, and nibble on my toes. Funny little guy. Peps died at 6 months old from kidney disease, but I will never forget moments like these.
Gotta love all the creatures on earth.
I have a GSC Cockatoo and she was playing on the edge of our huge garbage can (Clean, Empty and Safe, don’t bash) and she was playing. She was tossing paper away for us (we hand her little scraps and tell her to “throw is away”. all of a sudden she decided she needs to get that pretty paper back out……. Whoosh, straight into the can, and you hear from the depths of the can “Not Abby’s, Step Up” “Step Uuuup” “this NOT Abby’s”, “Come get Abby, TAKE Abby” real quiet and she sounded embarrassed………………….
Hi
How cute and adorable.
I have a green cheeked conure and she speaks very clearly her name two ways. If asked what’s your name she will say kiwi girl, if you say morning kiwi she will say mornin and says allo, kiwi happy. So as far as I can see
yes I’m sure if you are very repetative your conures can lean to speak several words and phrases.
Just as an incintive she spoke her name and allo the first week I had her and she was only 17 weeks old. Oh and one other thing she does say but very sofltly is Love you. I have many birds here 15 plus three new baby love birds and I truely believe that they will only be as talkative as the time you will put into always talking to them.
That is so cute. I can tell you love your baby as much as I love mine. I have an African Grey Congo, and he does silly things like that all the time. It’s amazing how they do things like that without getting hurt! Thank you for the video.
I thought the parot was really cute, I have a jenday that does some of the funniest things, rolls over ,hides under wash clothes, lays upside down in your hand, but hasn’t fallen off the bed yet. So cute.
I have a Nanday Conure. His name is Merf and is 11 years old. He talks quite well. He says “love you, kiss kiss, when he wants to come out of his cage in the morning. He will put his beak around my finger and say “ouch don’t bite”. He will give kisses and than say thank you, love you. I will give him a treat and he says “MMMMM good, thank you”. He too will roll off of a piece of furniture and say “ouch be nice”. He will also say come here and gimme a kiss. He will call my name Karen come here love you, when he wants out of his cage also. If the phone rings he says Hello, then continues with a conversation of hi, yea ok bye. Gotto love the bird.
I showed it and had a laugh with my class. They got a buzz out of it. We are learning about birds. We are incubating chicken eggs this week and hope to hatch lots of chicks in 21 days.
We have an 18 month Green Cheeked Conure, he speaks continually but very little is clear, mostly what he has picked up from our Cockatiel but he seems to understand simple words. He can be a very loving little bird & loves his head scratched and tummy tickled when he is in a good mood, however he can be an outright devil at times. He has been very easy to train even though he was not fully hand reared. Rocky is a complete joy and a fully fledged member of our family.
Your video was great. As soon as my Amazon, Paulie, heard the bird, he got on the back of my chair to watch it too. Paulie’s new trick is to walk backwards. He can walk as fast backwards as he can forwards. Please continue to show cute bird videos. I love them.
THANKS FOR ALL THE SMILES AND LAUGHS. MY QUAKER PARROT, CAN REALLY SHOW OFF, BUT ON HER TERMS. SHE STARTED TALKING AT 9 WEEKS AND THE FIRST THING SHE SAID WAS IT IS ALL RIGHT BABY, WHEN I WAS NO WHERE SHE COULD SEE ME. THEN SHE CAN BE ON HER PLAY PIN AND DROP ALL HER TOYS THEN LOOK AT YOU AND ATT O , SHE ALSO LAUGHS IN MY TONE THEN MY DAUGHTER. THEN WHEN I AM ON THE PHONE SHE WILL SAY OK RIGHT ON Q LIKE THE PERSON ASKED A QUESTION AND THE FUNNY PART IS THEY DID, THEN COME BACK AND SAY DID YOU SAY OK AND I HAVE TO EXPLAIN IT IS MY BIRD, THEN THEY START ASKING ME ALL KIND OF QUESTION ABOUT THE BIRD. THE BIRDS ARE A LOT SMARTER THAN SOME PEOPLE.
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE SMILES AND LAUGHS.
Hi: Rosemary here: Hey! I really loved the videos they are soo cute. It reminds me of my citron crested cockatoo. I named him casper, and he laughs all the time. casper is 11 weeks old is still being hand fed. How do you break them of being had fed? those videos are so good I am so glad you sent them a lot can be learned from them. I hope you can send some more of them. I also have a Nanday conure parrot. sweetie can talk, and does a lot. I was so hopeing that you would send some videos to see. I hope you will send more. things are going great. Rosemary
that bird is SO cute => I love birds so much! i wish i can teach my birds to do that. My love bird (Collin) is all lovey dovey wih me. He’s a sweetie, and he’ll tweet back if you make a little greeting sound or just say hello. Collin has a very loud and high pitched tweet.
Collin will clean anything there is for him to clean. He’ll love to clean out your ears, teeth and nose. One of his favorites is grooming your skin with his little black tongue. I don’t want him to get sick, so he gets me worried because it’s practically a bad habit. Or is this natural, I wonder…
Jiffy, my cockatiel, can say a wide expanse of words. His main ones are pop-goes-the-weasel, kisses *kissing sounds*, cutie, good birdy and the wolf call.
The only (pysical) trick Jiffy can do is when i ruffle his feathers on the back of his head. Once he is hypnotized by my soothing massages I can tilt his head in whatever direction I want, he’ll stay that way until I snap my fingers or give him a little tap on the crest. I’m not sure if that counts as a trick but it sure is entertaining for others to watch.
Loved the video! Don’t know if your bird is smarter than my blue and gold macaw, Budman. He tells the other two,( blue-front amazon, “Chicken” and congo african grey “Conga-bird”) to “Knock it off!” when they get too vocal. He also asks himself “Budman, are you alright?” He has a very Large vocabulary! I can almost hold a conversation with him. Who needs people, when you have a 3 year old parrot like that? He is awesome. Keep the cool videos coming… the bird love them, also!
i have a green cheek conure jojo he speeks very clear. get me out get me out ,come here, what are you doing, jojos hungry, you hear me, want a bath, want a drink , then he drinks from a pop top lid he holds with his little foot, want a bite.He is so smart . he rings the bell, plays ball and gets his cup(pop lid) on comand. He is 3yrs old and learning so fast. Jojo takes a bath in my cupped hands under the running faucet. Don”t know what i would fo without this sunshine in my life. thanks for listening.
Aww… poor birdie was embarrased So cute, my Grey is also very clumsy and falls off things too… and then after she falls gives me the look of.. “what? what are you looking at?” hahaha!
My baby senegal loses his balance quite often. Seems he gets a little ticked off every time it happens cause he always lets out a loud SQUAK like he’s mad at someone. I just laugh like I do at so many of his other “antics”.
I have 2 grey cocktail. Both are so sweet.they lisen to me wat i says.I love them and talk to them daily 10 mints.

My baby senegal loses his balance quite often. Seems he gets a little ticked off every time it happens cause he always lets out a loud SQUAK like he’s mad at someone. I just laugh like I do at so many of his other “antics”.
