Since my cockatoo’s [Ducorps & Goffin] have become totally flighted they no longer show any interest in the ’step-up’ command…before they were fully flighted they did this without any problem! I am figuring that since they have found their own independence they choose such, rather than wanting to step up or any other commands…my birds are not treat trained…so what can I do now? I rather they not be clipped, since I know they are very happy being fully flighted…any suggestions? Thanx!

I just went through the same thing with my silly birds! I let the wings grow and the attitude grew at the same rate! A good friend of mine is a vet who specializes in birds and offered to do the next “wing clip” session. He says that there is a way to clip the wings (leaving some of the feathers longer.) that the birds can fly flat but not get any height. He swears by this method. He says that the birds still have their independence yet still need you a little bit.
He’s coming over next week. We will see then!!

Have a quaker-parrot in among a lot of people in our Nursing facility. Initially our parrot was very friendly, but now as you describe above he(?) loves to get out of the cage and fights(bites) to get back in. Also will not step-up as it used to.
Will try some of those suggestions, as soon as I find a treat for it, something it really likes. Thanks for you suggestions

okay this is my problem i have a cockatiel his name is Baby. but he loves his cage.He will bite you if you but a finger on the cage. Also he goes crazy when you put your hand in his cage to get him out. the only way you can get him out is by lifitting the cage putting it on the flooor and he comes out through the bottom of the cage. i try to touch his head he bites me.He is a great singer and when i take him out i play with him then when we are done and he see’s his cage he gets anxios and jumps right into the cage and gets in.
I try so hard to tame him but it dosent work. Any suggestions? Please help me!!
