Chet, you absolutely brought tears of laughter to my eyes by bringing us this video. Thanks soooo much! You caught me with your title because I KNOW you don’t think parakeets are stupid and I was not disappointed! :-)

Marilynn Hession  09/24/2009 9:17 am

That was absolutely a TREAT! Thanks so much for that. I’ve owned several budgies over the years and they are been so amazing. The truly amazing part is that he’s got a group of budgies doing those tricks and being attentive to him–usually when birds are together their bonds seem to weaken with humans. That was beautiful, and he obviously has some very happy birds!

jennifer stackell  09/24/2009 9:35 am

That was UN-Believable !!!!!!!!

The audiance looked like they were having a Great time …TV Sucks !

MY Mind is totally Blown and a Standing ovation !!!!!

I get the impression the birds genuinely enjoy what they are doing! This reminded me of the title of a Reader’s Digest article I read years ago, “Budgies can do darn near anything.”

Sandi Bresee  09/24/2009 10:09 am

It is another “proof” that dynamite does come in small packages.

I loved this, Chet, they were enjoying themselves and looked forward to each and every act. How adoreable.

I noticed the various colors of each “keet”. So “color” doesn’t change the fact they all have brains. :)

Thanks Chet :)

Sandi

Joan  09/24/2009 10:12 am

Whoever coined the phrase “bird brain” never owned a bird. All birds are very smart. Even the wild birds. I love them all. Well, maybe not the crows, who scare my Paulie, when they fly by the window. I owned several parakeets over the years. All were very smart birds. My cockatiel is also.

PA Guy  09/24/2009 10:39 am

They did these routines because they loved it! They are born entertainers. The one that kept playing on the slide cracked me up. He was having fun and you could see it. He didn’t have to give them treats.

Thanks Chet!

Gina Gerdes  09/24/2009 11:23 am

These little guys ARE this smart and with VERY little difficulty! I have a male budgie that picks things up so quickly with very little effort in exchange for a lot of love. :) I can’t say enough about the intelligence and personality of budgies. :)

Nikki  09/24/2009 11:36 am

OMG!!!!!!! That was too cute! One of the most adorable bird routines I’ve ever seen. Makes you wonder how the term “bird brain” as an insult was ever apt…NOT! Super smart!

I’m sending this to everyone I know!

Thanks, Chet!

Nikki

JUST ANOTHER ATEMPT BY THE W. BROTHERS TO CAPITALIZE ON SOMEONE ELSES HARD WORK

Cheryl Cormier  09/24/2009 12:30 pm

I just sat and admired all of the little ones and how well they responded to their handler. No creature is stupid they just need more love and coaching. Way to go little buddies.

janessa  09/24/2009 12:47 pm

so cute and very smart. thanks for sharing this vedio.

Alice Davis-Rains  09/24/2009 12:55 pm

Presently living in the country in very crowded conditions. No way to play videos, but do have computer with DVD player. Are your training videos available in this format? Thanks.

Kirk Weber  09/24/2009 1:23 pm

OK, Chet. Now listen here: I purchased your Trick Training DVD; so, if my birds can’t do this by the end of next week, I want my money back!!! LOL

Very impressive, very inspiring. Thanks for sending.

Michelle  09/24/2009 1:49 pm

Yes Parakeets are very smart. I think sometimes they are smarter then my Cockital.. I think the video was adorable.. I had Parakeet that recentally flew away… HE could get out anything you put him in.. Every morning he was out that cage, and one morning I couldn’t find him then I went to let the dog out and He flew out the door… He was a mean little bird. My cockial was three times his size and that parakeet wouldn’t let my cockiel eat and was always picking on her and kept pulling out his feathers…

MARY  09/24/2009 2:26 pm

THAT WAS TOO CUTE. MY PARAKEET SPENDS HIS DAY BOSSIN’ THE QUAKER PARROT AROUND. WHAT A GREAT JOB, TRAINING THOSE LITTLE GUYS.

Sam  09/24/2009 2:49 pm

Thant was one of the cuties I’ve seen. Enjoyed it very much. That just goes to show it can be done.

JAN  09/24/2009 3:49 pm

CHET,
THAT WAS GREAT, THE LITTLE GUYS WERE SO CUTE AND SHOWED HOW SMART THEY ARE. I HAVE ENJOYED ALL YOUR VIDEO. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR US BIRD LOVERS. KEEP THE GOOD WORK GOING.

Tara  09/24/2009 4:45 pm

I love these cute creatures :-) Thank you Chet for sharing this video…

Tom  09/24/2009 6:02 pm

I saw something very similar on black & white tv, (before color), over 55 years ago on the Ed Sullivan Show. It was awesome then and still is!

Diane  09/24/2009 6:12 pm

Thanks for sharing that!! I have a two-year old parakeet that I almost gave away right after I got him at 12 weeks. He was squawky and always trying to bite me. I tried all kinds of “taming.” I had two parakeets years ago that were so sweet; I thought it was just him. Just about the time I wanted to get rid of him, I purchased your bird taming and trick DVD’s. The result was almost overnight!! Kiwi soon became my constant companion around the house. He is out of his cage most of the time (wings clipped for safety) and will even follow me around like a dog. He says over 125 words and phrases and picks up new ones each week. I think your DVD’s are great, and I enjoy your emails. (Don’t pay any attention to “Bud.”) P.S. Is there any way to find out who that trainer is?

chris malmstrom  09/24/2009 6:39 pm

one of the most entertaining bird flicks I’ve seen

Eric  09/24/2009 9:23 pm

Totally awesome video, had a good laugh

Michele  09/25/2009 1:13 am

What precious creatures! I curently have a duck and a starling which I love very much. I have owned parakeets in the past for many years. These birds are extremly intelligent. I am very impressed. I would love for my babies to do neat tricks like these.

Lena  09/25/2009 1:44 am

Man, my parakeets are pretty dumb… this video was awesome!

Sham  09/25/2009 4:58 am

AWESOME!!!

Jeff  09/25/2009 11:32 am

Wonderful. I’ve had two of these birds for almost 14 years…..I also have conures and the parakeets fly free..they were getting out anyway. They love to go visit the conures and I caught one parakeet picking on a conure and then when the conure would grab him, he’d cry for help pretending the conure had started it all. I just happened to come in the room one time when I saw what REALLY was happening or I’d still think the conure was the bad guy. The parakeets are the most loving sweetest interesting birds I’ve ever had. I love them to death.

Graham  09/25/2009 11:34 am

Amazing video, a pleasure to watch, it was good to see the whole audience enjoying the show. I wouldn’t say that these parakeets are stupid, not in the least, in fact they are highly intelligent animals and this video proves it. This is one of the best video’s I have watched, 100% better than most of the usual rubbish on youtube, would love to see more.
BRILLIANT 10/10

Geroge  09/25/2009 3:45 pm

Amazing!!!!

f  09/25/2009 5:42 pm

Jo Taylor  09/29/2009 9:47 pm

JUST ANOTHER ATEMPT BY THE W. BROTHERS TO CAPITALIZE ON SOMEONE ELSES HARD WORK
Have you heard the saying, if you don’t have anything nice to say, Well this guy should have listened. Besides how on earth are the W. Brothers gonna capitalize on this video, it was FREE !!!! The clip was amazing. Bud, be nice. If you don’t like something then don’t look at it!!!!!

Andrea  10/01/2009 9:01 pm

Only one bad comment, thank GOD one bad apple doesn’t make the rest bad. If I could teach my bird to do anything then maybe they could CAPITALIZE on that. And it would be worth it. They would deserve to capitalize , whatever Bud meant by that, who knows. anyway, Bud GO AWAY!

hafsa  10/01/2009 9:36 pm

Joyce  10/07/2009 2:58 am

that is the most wonderful video I’ve seen for awhile. I wish my birds would do things.

Sarah  10/31/2009 12:01 pm

This man has been around a while with his ‘Budgie Circus’. He works with the birds every day and makes it fun for them. Note the budgies do not have clipped wings.
