Chet, you absolutely brought tears of laughter to my eyes by bringing us this video. Thanks soooo much! You caught me with your title because I KNOW you don’t think parakeets are stupid and I was not disappointed! :-)

Marilynn Hession  09/24/2009 9:17 am

That was absolutely a TREAT! Thanks so much for that. I’ve owned several budgies over the years and they are been so amazing. The truly amazing part is that he’s got a group of budgies doing those tricks and being attentive to him–usually when birds are together their bonds seem to weaken with humans. That was beautiful, and he obviously has some very happy birds!

jennifer stackell  09/24/2009 9:35 am

WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was UN-Believable !!!!!!!!

The audiance looked like they were having a Great time …TV Sucks !

MY Mind is totally Blown and a Standing ovation !!!!!

Sharon  09/24/2009 9:35 am

I get the impression the birds genuinely enjoy what they are doing! This reminded me of the title of a Reader’s Digest article I read years ago, “Budgies can do darn near anything.”

Sandi Bresee  09/24/2009 10:09 am

It is another “proof” that dynamite does come in small packages.

I loved this, Chet, they were enjoying themselves and looked forward to each and every act. How adoreable.

I noticed the various colors of each “keet”. So “color” doesn’t change the fact they all have brains. :)

Thanks Chet :)

Joan  09/24/2009 10:12 am

Whoever coined the phrase “bird brain” never owned a bird. All birds are very smart. Even the wild birds. I love them all. Well, maybe not the crows, who scare my Paulie, when they fly by the window. I owned several parakeets over the years. All were very smart birds. My cockatiel is also.

PA Guy  09/24/2009 10:39 am

They did these routines because they loved it! They are born entertainers. The one that kept playing on the slide cracked me up. He was having fun and you could see it. He didn’t have to give them treats.

Thanks Chet!

Gina Gerdes  09/24/2009 11:23 am

These little guys ARE this smart and with VERY little difficulty! I have a male budgie that picks things up so quickly with very little effort in exchange for a lot of love. :) I can’t say enough about the intelligence and personality of budgies. :)

Nikki  09/24/2009 11:36 am

OMG!!!!!!! That was too cute! One of the most adorable bird routines I’ve ever seen. Makes you wonder how the term “bird brain” as an insult was ever apt…NOT! Super smart!

I’m sending this to everyone I know!

Thanks, Chet!

I just sat and admired all of the little ones and how well they responded to their handler. No creature is stupid they just need more love and coaching. Way to go little buddies.

janessa  09/24/2009 12:47 pm

so cute and very smart. thanks for sharing this vedio.

Alice Davis-Rains  09/24/2009 12:55 pm

Presently living in the country in very crowded conditions. No way to play videos, but do have computer with DVD player. Are your training videos available in this format? Thanks.

Kirk Weber  09/24/2009 1:23 pm

OK, Chet. Now listen here: I purchased your Trick Training DVD; so, if my birds can’t do this by the end of next week, I want my money back!!! LOL

Very impressive, very inspiring. Thanks for sending.

Michelle  09/24/2009 1:49 pm

Yes Parakeets are very smart. I think sometimes they are smarter then my Cockital.. I think the video was adorable.. I had Parakeet that recentally flew away… HE could get out anything you put him in.. Every morning he was out that cage, and one morning I couldn’t find him then I went to let the dog out and He flew out the door… He was a mean little bird. My cockial was three times his size and that parakeet wouldn’t let my cockiel eat and was always picking on her and kept pulling out his feathers…

MARY  09/24/2009 2:26 pm

Sam  09/24/2009 2:49 pm

Thant was one of the cuties I’ve seen. Enjoyed it very much. That just goes to show it can be done.

Tara  09/24/2009 4:45 pm

I love these cute creatures :-) Thank you Chet for sharing this video…

Tom  09/24/2009 6:02 pm

I saw something very similar on black & white tv, (before color), over 55 years ago on the Ed Sullivan Show. It was awesome then and still is!

Diane  09/24/2009 6:12 pm

Thanks for sharing that!! I have a two-year old parakeet that I almost gave away right after I got him at 12 weeks. He was squawky and always trying to bite me. I tried all kinds of “taming.” I had two parakeets years ago that were so sweet; I thought it was just him. Just about the time I wanted to get rid of him, I purchased your bird taming and trick DVD’s. The result was almost overnight!! Kiwi soon became my constant companion around the house. He is out of his cage most of the time (wings clipped for safety) and will even follow me around like a dog. He says over 125 words and phrases and picks up new ones each week. I think your DVD’s are great, and I enjoy your emails. (Don’t pay any attention to “Bud.”) P.S. Is there any way to find out who that trainer is?

chris malmstrom  09/24/2009 6:39 pm

one of the most entertaining bird flicks I’ve seen

Eric  09/24/2009 9:23 pm

Totally awesome video, had a good laugh

Michele  09/25/2009 1:13 am

What precious creatures! I curently have a duck and a starling which I love very much. I have owned parakeets in the past for many years. These birds are extremly intelligent. I am very impressed. I would love for my babies to do neat tricks like these.

Lena  09/25/2009 1:44 am

Man, my parakeets are pretty dumb… this video was awesome!

Sham  09/25/2009 4:58 am

Jeff  09/25/2009 11:32 am

Wonderful. I’ve had two of these birds for almost 14 years…..I also have conures and the parakeets fly free..they were getting out anyway. They love to go visit the conures and I caught one parakeet picking on a conure and then when the conure would grab him, he’d cry for help pretending the conure had started it all. I just happened to come in the room one time when I saw what REALLY was happening or I’d still think the conure was the bad guy. The parakeets are the most loving sweetest interesting birds I’ve ever had. I love them to death.

Graham  09/25/2009 11:34 am

Amazing video, a pleasure to watch, it was good to see the whole audience enjoying the show. I wouldn’t say that these parakeets are stupid, not in the least, in fact they are highly intelligent animals and this video proves it. This is one of the best video’s I have watched, 100% better than most of the usual rubbish on youtube, would love to see more.

Geroge  09/25/2009 3:45 pm

f  09/25/2009 5:42 pm

that doesnt proof that they are stupid

Omair Nabeel  09/26/2009 8:16 am

Silly CHET,
He was doing all of that on purpose

Jennifer A.  09/28/2009 10:39 am

This video had me clapping the whole time! LOVED it.

Angel  09/29/2009 9:07 am

That was so neat, it really made my day!

Jo Taylor  09/29/2009 9:47 pm

Well, these little birds were quite brilliant, and their trainer was wonderful!

Lynne  09/30/2009 11:26 pm

That was so much fun to watch! What very well trained birds!

Andrea  10/01/2009 8:54 pm

Have you heard the saying, if you don’t have anything nice to say, Well this guy should have listened. Besides how on earth are the W. Brothers gonna capitalize on this video, it was FREE !!!! The clip was amazing. Bud, be nice. If you don’t like something then don’t look at it!!!!!

Andrea  10/01/2009 9:01 pm

Only one bad comment, thank GOD one bad apple doesn’t make the rest bad. If I could teach my bird to do anything then maybe they could CAPITALIZE on that. And it would be worth it. They would deserve to capitalize , whatever Bud meant by that, who knows. anyway, Bud GO AWAY!

hafsa  10/01/2009 9:36 pm

hey chet this wazzzzzzzzz soooooooooooooooo funny and i really loved the part when the green perakeet kept going back 2 the slide and you don’t really think that perakeets are stupid right???

Jamieleigh  10/02/2009 8:13 am

Chet was just being funny, he doesn’t really think they’re stupid :)

Joyce  10/07/2009 2:58 am

This is really cute. I’d like to see things like this more often, because your birds are obviously enjoying themselves and handled nicely.

C  10/14/2009 9:22 pm

that is the most wonderful video I’ve seen for awhile. I wish my birds would do things.

Sarah  10/31/2009 12:01 pm

This man has been around a while with his ‘Budgie Circus’. He works with the birds every day and makes it fun for them. Note the budgies do not have clipped wings.

megan  12/11/2009 3:17 pm

The video did not come up for me! huh…if only it did…I have two “untrainable lovebirds”,so i am pretty upset!

VanHooserMama  12/13/2009 8:03 pm

We had a budjie my huband taught talk. He mumbles like W.C. Fields and was very smart so I knew this was a catch to get us to watch the video. Glad it worked. Was very intertaining. Thanks for sharing!

sharon robinson indian ringneck poppett  12/23/2009 9:05 am

do you know whether or not you are touring canada, lide leanne said bc th okanagan to be specific. the other question that have is this, how long does the hormone inbalance last, my indian ringneck is 2 half yrs old and hes being so stuborn right now. he won’t do anything that I ask and he’s starting to bite me again. which he hasn’t done in a long time. he attacks anything from tea towels to pop bottols which he never did before, we did have a problem with him chewing his way through the top of my kitchen counters we used the plastic tubing that you buy to put over shower curtains and that seemed to help as he would slip off but did that ever piss him off so he went and found another piece which is the frame around the window. I say no, i give him time outs. i think i have tried most things. i use the clicker when he does something good, but he hasn’t figured out the clicker yet. he tries to attach it too. help the frustrated please. ps I haven’t been able to find a small treat that he really likes to start the training, so far he gets kisses when he does something nice., but that doesn’t work when Im trying to show him tricks. he plays ball with me, im actually thinking of trimming his feathers so that he is unable to fly so well, with him knowing how to hover it makes it very hard to keep him out of our stuff and harms way. i love him to death but getting frustrated beginning to feel like i took on more than i can handle. thanks for eerything you are doing as a canadian i am finding it hard to find a bird club near where I live. i would love to learn from someone that knows what they are doing. unfortunately I am unable to buy you cd’s which is sad because i think my answers to my many questions would be answered and i wouldn’t feel like I am a failure to him and that maybe I should try to find him a home wher they have the time and knowledge to train him proberly I don’t want to be selfish where my poppett is concerned i love him too much. with opening a new tattoo shop with my husband last year my time with poppett is getting shorter and shorter and i so feel that is very unfair to him, its nnot his fault its ours. confused and sad and don’t know what is best for him. if i knew that he would calm down i would feel so much better, i have to fight with him everytime i take him out for a romp he goes right to where he knows that he is not supposed to be there, he has no house manners at all, and i honestly don’t have a clue how to even start with that problem, thats when he starts to attach everything including me, he will actaully fly at my head with his eyes white as snow.

Macaw Ma  12/25/2009 4:17 pm

That is the cutest act I have ever seen!! I love those humble little budgies! Notice EVERYONE in that audience, young and old, were grinning from ear to ear. That was a hoot, great trainer, great birdies, great routine. Thanks for making my day bright. Yeah, Bud, stuff it!

Cindi  12/26/2009 7:18 pm

Great video. I really enjoyed it. Great training.

katie  12/29/2009 1:51 am

Christy Enterkin  01/12/2010 3:28 pm

Wow, That was really interesting..My keet won’t do anything, neither will my love bird?? Christy in St. Marys, Ga.

Christine Brosseau  01/19/2010 3:13 pm

Wow thank you for the wonderful video Chet. I never knew budgies were smart until I hand raised Oliver Twist. Oliver has a mobility problem(severely splay leg budgie) He has blown me away with his intelligence. He says about 20 words in french and english. He orders the other birds around by calling them by name and telling them be quiet or go to bed. He will also compliment them by saying Good boy ( Sam (my grey), love you (Peanut(Lovebird), pretty pretty bird(Julien(conure) , step up. He love to play ring toss like on your videos. We are working on other projects but I must modify because of the poor use of his legs. I modified a basket ball net . He carries the ball and uses it as a third leg. It’s to get it in the hoop. He uses the modified ball alot to get around. Will keep trying. Thank You for the wonderful video. Christine Brosseau (bird rescue and rehab)

saad  01/29/2010 8:31 am

Raven  02/06/2010 12:12 am

Aww! That was so cute! And Cool!
I wouldn’t call that stupid, but that one budgie made me think: It’s not that he’s not listening(sort of), it’s just that he just maybe… loves that slide.

cindy  02/11/2010 12:40 am

I have never seen anything like that ,that was awesome if some one can train a parakeets to do all that then i would say any Birl was able to be trianed . Thanks chet.

blenman  02/20/2010 10:11 pm

That was sooo cool. ENCORE ENCORE!!!!!!!

Stefanie  03/20/2010 8:10 pm

That is just unbelievable! I love it! I just got a baby budgie and am very impressed that they are so smart. They have so much potential and it just makes me so sad that people underestimate them. It breaks my heart knowing that there are so many budgies sitting around, bored out of their skulls with nothing to do, investigate or learn. :(

Janine  03/21/2010 4:43 pm

that was awesome! so cute!
i didnt think you actually meant that parakeets are stupid!!
and the part where one of them launched a cannonball at the man – was that supposed to happen?
anyway..those are the smartest parakeets in the world!
