You heard me right…

If you submit a video of your parrot talking into our “Best Talking Parrot Contest” you could win $300!

There’s TWO ways to enter:

1) If you’re video is already posted on the internet on a website like YouTube or Metacafe, simply email us the link to where your video is posted. You can email the video to info@birdtricks.com

Or…

2) If your video is not already published online, you can click here to upload the video to us directly. Just please make sure to include an email address where we can contact you if you win the contest.

>NOTE: If you want to enter this contest you have to send in your video THIS week. Once we’ve received all the videos, we’ll post them all back on our website and invite you to come vote for your favorites. And the video that get’s the most votes from the public wins the $300!

But that’s not ALL!

We’re also going to be giving away a 2nd place prize of $200 and a 3rd place prize of $100.

So what are you waiting for… send in your videos today!

WARNING!

Do not submit videos that you are NOT the owner of! If you send in a video of a parrot who is not your own and someone reports you (like the REAL parrots owner) then you will be automatically disqualified from the contest, plus face public humiliation as I’ll be ratting out any and all cheaters publicly.

*By submitting a video you are agreeing to let Birdtricks.com republish and distribute your video(s) by means of email, websites, video, audio, and other means of electronic distribution without limitation or compensation.

Chet, what is the deadline? I like to put things off to the last moment. :)

I’m excited to win!

Laurie  10/12/2009 9:37 am

Does singing count. My parrot sings his own little made up songs and it’s really funny to listen to him.

Chet  10/12/2009 11:24 am

Jenna,

The deadline is October 18th at midnight pacific coast time. Can’t wait to see your video :-)

Beth  10/12/2009 12:20 pm

Is this open to Canadians?

Chet  10/12/2009 2:38 pm

If your video is in english, it’s open to you

Chet  10/12/2009 2:40 pm

singing counts too!

Lolly Birdie  10/12/2009 3:42 pm

What is the criteria that the video is judged on? Like if the bird talks in phrases, sentences, answers questions, etc. will that bird get a higher score than one who just says a bunch of words? Just curious.

matthew  10/12/2009 6:14 pm

it will be very hard to beat any african greys, but i guess ill try

Linda Diaz  10/12/2009 7:41 pm

I have an 8 year old African Gray that Talks alot and is funny. I am a comic and she didn’t learn it from me! I used to let my 23 year old have her with 4 girls living together she got quite an education. It is funny to listen to her talk to my Jack the Terror puppy. She used to bite me for years before I got him.

Andy Corona  10/12/2009 7:44 pm

Hi Chet, My bird says a few bad words the usual ones that start with “F” and “S”, will this be ok? She wakes up in the morning saying these things that my husband taught her, is this ok? Thank You! Andy

Tami  10/12/2009 9:24 pm

What if your bird throws a few bleep, bleep words every now and then? I s he still eligible?

Cheryl  10/12/2009 11:24 pm

Christine The Birdnanny  10/12/2009 11:53 pm

Sandra  10/14/2009 6:15 am

Just saw the deadline. Hope I can make it. I just recorded my B and G Macaw yesterday but flying to Boston until Sunday. Hope I can make it! My Chiquita has had about 40K hits on Youtube with his immitation of Spongebob. Why is it though that they do their best stuff when the camera is off? I did catch a few of his best though.

Roger  10/14/2009 10:20 am

Chet,
How about singing? This by no means is an entry because I don’t have a video (yet)! I have an African Grey named Jo-Jo (see attached pic).
I thought it would be fun to teach him the chorus of a 70′s bubblegum tune by the title “Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep”. I’ve also attached a version of this song so you can listen to it first. And, of course, Jo-Jo’s version of the chorus (lyrics altered to fit Jo-Jo).
Have a good one!
Rog

Chet  10/14/2009 12:32 pm

Roger,

Yes, singing birds can enter this contest too, we’d love to hear them.

ashley  10/15/2009 4:31 pm

Does speaking bird-language count? lol, j/k

ashley  10/15/2009 10:03 pm

If i did not the video of my entry, can i send a different one?

ashley  10/16/2009 1:14 am

oops, i messed up my last comment, i ment “if i did not like the video of my entry, can i send a different one?”

The yellow voting tabs are now up, sorry about the delay… you can now cast a vote per video. But you’re only allowed to vote once per video… just so you know. Hope you’re enjoying the videos :-)

Michelle  10/21/2009 10:07 am

Chet the deadline for submitting videos was the OCT 18 but what is the deadline for getting votes

Rania  10/22/2009 5:58 pm

Hi Chet.. Whats the deadline for voting?

Jill  10/22/2009 10:59 pm

Somebody please have the courtesy to let us know when the last time to vote is….please dont leave us in despair……or can we vote till we take our last breath? A YES or No would be just great if a proper answer is gonna take a long time to be shown.

Chet  10/23/2009 1:16 pm

The voting will go through the end of the month. I’ll be sending out an email notice on Monday to remind everyone.

Chet  10/23/2009 1:16 pm

The deadline to vote is the end of the month

Katie Johanssen  10/23/2009 2:46 pm

Dear Chet:

Please watch out for the entry (parrot’s name is Kiwi). They are doing a lot of fraud entries in order to win. Since we believe you are tracking the IP for voting, they are bypassing it somehow to get what they want. This actually challenges the other entries…and we have started losing confidence in your system. Let them not make you untrustworthy. Kind request…….do something so that all birds in this contest get some respect here.

Thank you

Chet  10/23/2009 4:00 pm

I’ll look into those fraud entries.

chicka mamma  10/23/2009 6:01 pm

what is the final deadline?

Chet  10/23/2009 6:40 pm

The deadline ends at the end of the month

Gloria  10/23/2009 6:41 pm

Hi Chet,
I know I could use the dough, my birds BeBe, and Elvis are riots. I love at times when they actually speak to one another. Otherwise it is BeBe that really does most of the talking. She comes out with things like, “What is that”? “Are you going shoping”? “I love you”, “Helloooo”, she also throws kisses, it all depends on what is going on, if there is a melodious female singer she will follow the melody. All my birds are pretty interesting, Elvis has more guttural sounds with “ooohhhh”, “hey babe”, “ok-ay”, and the like. I know these birds are pretty amazing.

Tiara Beelner  10/23/2009 8:51 pm

E-mail me for the next contest. I didn’t recieve this until after the deadline. I have many talking and singing birds that would have won. Tiara4u2@yahoo.com Looking forward to a next contest.

Joel  10/23/2009 9:11 pm

Why do people jump to conclusions so easily? If you feel that there could be the possibility of voting manipulation, why are you so quick to accuse the owners? You could be more objective. If there is any manipulation to start with, it could be coming from anybody.

I watched quite a few videos. As a matter of fact, I thought Kiwi’s video was actually the best, and cast my vote for Kiwi.

I also have seen others, some good, some not so good. One in particular, which I didn’t think merited the votes being received, is Appely, the Bilingual African Grey. This video didn’t really impress me, yet there are quite a few votes for this entry. Am I supposed to accuse the owner of voting manipulation, since I didn’t think much of the video, but the votes are high?

I think not. I am objective, and realize this is a contest where one and all can enter the site thru knowledge from participants, thru their contacts, and so on. If any manipulation occurred, it could have originated from anyone, not necessarily, the owner.

John  10/24/2009 2:09 am

Chet,

Will this contest be run again sometime? I only just saw it and realized that the deadline has passed. I am confident that my Eclectus would have stolen the prize.

Virginia Davies  10/25/2009 10:58 pm

I’m now sorry I did not enter in time, as Cuddles Cockatoo not only spoke as well (or better) than those finalists, but her comments were completly appropriate and meaningful-(not scripted).

“Why do people jump to conclusions so easily? If you feel that there could be the possibility of voting manipulation, why are you so quick to accuse the owners? You could be more objective. If there is any manipulation to start with, it could be coming from anybody.”

Well said Joel. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Sana Mariam Fahad  10/30/2009 4:33 pm

Hey Chet..
Those are some amazing talking parrots.. but I hope there was a better way to judge them!! Instead these votes show the popularity and reachability of the owners or owners friends! Some videos have too long pauses.. some silly .. was there any criteria to this contest? I wish, you decide to appreciate or make a list of the birds that really TALK and the winner is obviously the most popular owner .. right??

Tanja  10/31/2009 2:33 am

Hi Chet
I think next time if you are going to have this competion again, YOU should decide which are the better talking parrots and only put them up for voting, or you only make the decision. My feeling is some birds are really good but if you look at the time of video and what the bird actually said. For instance they keep repeating the same thing as where other videos are much shorter and the bird actually said much more!!

Hello we are from Holland, so our parrot mostly talks dutch, But we have a vid in wich he talks your language hahaha so we like to know if it make sence to send a link. Our parrot is now 2 uears olfd and knows about 300 words to say. Understands on wich time he can use the words and wich connections the words have. Many people have fun by watching this: Manus the parrot says SILENCE I KILL YOU!! but also Manus de papegaai weer lekker op dreef or others, because he talks to much haha. The whole day he talks…it goes on and on. Greetings Geer and Greetje
